LaMoure County Commissioners voted on June 6, 2017 for a Fire Declaration and Burn Restrictions.
With the majority of LaMoure County in a D1 Moderate Drought Designation, the LaMoure County Commissioners voted today to Issue a Fire Declaration and Burn Restriction. Open burning will be prohibited when the LaMoure County Fire Danger Rating is High, Very High, or Extreme and/or a Red Flag Warning has been Issued. A link to the Fire Danger Rating is on the LaMoure County website - https://lamourecountynd.com/ and is updated daily. There is a chance for thunderstorms today, June 6th, yet the overall outlook provided from the National Weather Service indicates that the historical average with the current conditions indicate the months of July and August will become hot and dry.
All open burning needs to be attended and supervised at all times. Review the North Dakota Century Code 33-15-04-02 for more conditions regarding open burning. Additional information regarding open burning can be found on the LaMoure County website. If there are still questions, please contact your Emergency Manager at 883-6096 or local Fire Department Chief.
