The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) received a report of a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) on Lake LaMoure in LaMoure County. A water sample indicated toxin levels are above the reporting limit.
As a result of this testing, the NDDEQ is issuing a Harmful Algal Bloom ADVISORY for Lake LaMoure.
Blue-green algae can produce cyanotoxins which may cause serious health effects in people and animals. Signage will be posted near public access points.
The NDDEQ will continue to monitor the waterbody every other week until sample results indicate toxin levels are low.
